The following information was obtained from the British Isles and North American International Genealogical Index which I searched from the FamilySearch web site. Eleven additional records have been added from the FreeBMD website at FreeBMD. One other record was added from the Will indexes at the record office in Preston. This was e-mailed to me by Joyce Bilsborrow.

These are not all the people called Bilsbury who lived, but rather all the Bilsburys that had recorded details for a marriage, christening or other event before 1900.

Here are some facts and trends that I have found from looking at this information:

• The earliest Bilsbury found was Richardus Bilsbury who was married on 29 Apr 1598 in Durham, England to Elena Blackburne
• In the 1600s - Most Bilsburys were in London. One was in Blackburn, Lancashire and 2 were in Dublin Ireland
• In the 1700s - Most were in the North East of England around Yorkshire and Durham
• In the 1800s - Most were now living in the North of England in Lancashire or Yorkshire
• There were 12 Christenings of Bilsburys in Grindleton, Yorkshire, from 1825 to 1836
• The only one I found in the US was Lazarus Bilsbury, who was married on 14 Dec 1828 in New York state.
